Hemorrhoids or Piles as they are often called in the UK, are swellings on the inside of the anal canal, the short, muscular tube that connects the rectum with the anus. Hemorrhoids are actually varices around the ****. The rectum is further up and Preparation H is not used for the rectum. Also, if the bleeding is actually rectal, it is not a hemorrhoid and is probably something more serious.
We may all bleed from number 2, but if it is hemorrhoids the blood comes from a different place not the rectum. Rectal bleeds suggest something like colitis or cancer, or that there is a flow….you know link to the person’s blood flow and this your medicine may be harmful if it gets into a human being’s blood. The blood from your condition is not like ‘flowing’ but rather an ooze. Your doctor should have explained this before giving you the medication.
